Frequently Asked Questions
10 common questions about language exam score conversion.
- Q1. Do I need to sign up?
- No. Free, no signup. Scores are stored only in your browser's localStorage.
- Q2. What TOEFL score does TOEIC 850 correspond to?
- TOEIC 850 sits at upper B2 (around index 7) which maps to TOEFL iBT 85–100. Individual results vary; treat the number as a range.
- Q3. What is OPIc IH in TOEIC terms?
- OPIc IH corresponds to CEFR B2 (index ≈ 6), mapping to TOEIC 700–850. In Korean conglomerate hiring, IH is commonly treated as TOEIC 800 equivalent.
- Q4. How high is TOPIK Level 6?
- TOPIK II 230+ equals CEFR C1 — the highest band. It signals the ability to conduct advanced academic/professional work in Korean and is the top requirement for Korean grad schools and conglomerate hiring.
- Q5. Is TOEIC 850 enough for Samsung?
- It depends on the track. Engineering hire cutoffs are often around TOEIC 850 / TOEFL 95 (B2). Overseas business or marketing tracks may require C1+ (TOEIC 940+). Always check the latest job posting for track-specific requirements.
- Q6. Is the conversion officially endorsed?
- No. This tool combines publicly published CEFR mappings from ETS, British Council, NIIED, and ACTFL to produce an estimate. Always submit your actual official score when applying.
- Q7. Can you really compare TOEIC and TOPIK across different languages?
- A direct cross-language comparison is impossible, but "CEFR-equivalent level" is meaningful. A TOEIC 785 (B2) speaker who also holds TOPIK Level 5 (B2) has working proficiency in both languages.
- Q8. How long are scores valid?
- TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS, and OPIc scores are typically valid for 2 years from the test date. TOPIK result printouts are valid for 2 years, but the certified level is often accepted indefinitely (policy varies).
- Q9. Will you add other languages?
- JLPT (Japanese), HSK (Chinese), and DELE (Spanish) are planned. We'll roll them out as demand signals come in.
- Q10. Is my input saved anywhere?
- Only in your browser's localStorage. Your last input is restored on revisit but never uploaded to any server.
